Michael want one so he makes a trade to play one the baseball team Michael was jelous that Emma had got all the old baseball card that he wanted to make a deal with her He only let her play one game though There are manylessons in this book that can teach kinds how to be kind to one another.I would proply recomend this book to little kids just because It has a lot of lessons that kids can use in there life like not to get jelous and to always be kind Ten year old Emma Lee Benson lives in Boonsville with her mom, dad, and older brother Michael who s in the sixth grade Mike has a baseball team with his friends Joe, Spike, Ben, and Weasel called the Boonsville Bombers Emma s dream is to play on the team She s been working hard practicing pitching and catching, but Mike and his friends, especially Joe, won t let her play Joe has the only bat and says if Emma plays, he ll take the bat and leave Then Emma gets a present from Aunt Esther It s Ten year old Emma Lee Benson lives in convince them to change their minds What will she do to get Mike to allow her to play How will the other guys react Will they ever let Emma be on the team Sigh I suppose that one could consider The Boonsville Bombers just another propaganda tool to brainwash children into thinking that there are simply no differences between boys and girls If there s a historic black college, there s nothing wrong with that, but if there would be a historic white college, that s racist If girls want a team of their own, that s fine and dandy, but if boys want a team of their own, that s sexist Yes, I know that boys should be nice to girls, treat them kindly, and not bully them If that s what kids get out of this book, then I guess it s all right In that respect, there actually is a cute story here, but I must admit that I do get a little tired of all the constant gender baiting As to language, some common euphemisms gee, darned, gosh occur, but no cursing or profanity Alison Cragin Herzig did a magnificent job on The Boonsville Bombers she made me truly feel like i was a part of the story when she wrote because Emma was different she wasn t able to play baseball with the Bombers I honestly felt her pain she was turned down because she wasn t the right type Alison wrote that Emma was a girl and since Joe thought that girls were bad luck she couldn t play baseball with the boys Then when she finally proves she is worthy to play baseball, he whines and gr Alison Cragin Herzig did a magnificent job on The Boonsville Bombers she made me truly feel like i was a part of the story when she down and he finally gives up I recommend this book to people that love athletic books This is a book I like because it shows that just because something is hard to get, doesn t mean that it s impossible to get This was a predictable book because it pretty much told me what was going to happen right before it happened I loved this book when I was in elementary school I bought it at the Scholastic Book Fair because I was a girl who loved to play baseball, and I loved to read about girls who loved to play baseball. This book is a very fast paste book I believe this book isdescriptive than any thing else The books talks about a baseball team called the boonsville bombers and it consist of Michael and all of his friends His sister Emma wants to play on the team but his team doesn t want a girl to play So Emma works really hard on her throwing and hitting to try in get the team to let her play on the team and at the end of the book they let her get on the team I dislike this book because it doesn t This book is a very fast paste book I believe this book isdescriptive than any thing else The books talks about a baseball team called the boonsville bombers and it consist of Michael and all of his friends His sister Emma wants to play on the team but his team doesn t want a girl to play So Emma works really hard on her throwing and hitting to try in get the team to let her play on the team and at the end of the book they let her get on the team I dislike this book because it doesn t give enough key points in the book I would not recommend this to people that don t like baseball This book was from a stack that I brought home from school, all of which are candidates for either weeding or booktalking I think this one s going to the weed pile It was an easy read, but it seemed dated There was some bullying that was never really addressed, and some other things that just didn t ring true It was published 23 years ago and, in my opinion, has not withstood the test of time Oh, well Emma Lee Benson has a dream to play on her older brother s baseball team, the Boonsville Bombers She s been working every day on her throwing and hitting and knows that she s better than some of the boys But the Bombers don t want a girl on their team Will Emma ever have the chance to prove how good she is
