A written comic, which is to say short serial instalments with a very comic book vibe, visually written, and lots of fun I glommed the first six of these currently free and am off to buy the rest.

Not the correct book The one I read seems to be the first 4 or 5 ends on a terrible cliff hanger, but it was really good Not as powerful as the X Men, but similar mutant powers Set in Manchester, England Fun situations humor Perhaps a better librarian than I easy to do who isfamiliar with the series can figure out what s going on how to reconcile this with the current numbers of the series.I got it from here Blackstone Not the correct book The one I read seems to be the first 4 or 5 ends on a terrible cliff hanger, but it was really good Not as powerful as the X Men, but similar mutant powers Set in Manchester, England Fun situations humor Perhaps a better librarian than I easy to do who isfamiliar with the series can figure out what s going on how to reconcile this with the current numbers of the series.I got it from here Blackstone Publishing Edition UnabridgedOverDrive Listen audiobook ISBN 9781504633994 File size 135948 KB Release date September 8, 2015 Duration 04 42 49MP3 audiobook ISBN 9781504633994 File size 135948 KB Release date September 8, 2015 Duration 04 42 47 Number of parts 5

5 stars for the Prose Comic genre, 4 stars for the general prose genreThis review applies to all 13 issues of Goon Squad cuz much as I enjoy it I ain t writing 13 reviews Goon Squad is a blast Filled with Jonathan Howard s nicely tuned snark and as much Northern English slang as can possibly be crammed into space available, it s well worth checking out.GS is a series of prose comic books set in Alt Manchester, England where life history 5 stars for the Prose Comic genre, 4 stars for the general prose genreThis review applies to all 13 issues of Goon Squad cuz much as I enjoy it I ain t writing 13 reviews Goon Squad is a blast Filled with Jonathan Howard s nicely tuned snark and as much Northern English slang as can possibly be crammed into space available, it s well worth checking out.GS is a series of prose comic books set in Alt Manchester, England where life history is pretty much just like ours except of course there are specially gifted persons known as Talents, i.e individuals both good and bad, with wildly comic book powers Police departments have utilized some willing and good Talents as cops, grouping them into Special Talent Spec T groups to deal with bad Talent crime. Our Heroes are constables within Manchester P.D., although they re actually of course reporting to a mysterious government bureau represented by a mysterious, gentlemanly liaison who drives a fabulous car a la Nightingale of Ben Aaronovitch s Peter Grant series but with less presence in the series Puppet Girl, The Revenant, Red Wolf and Talos form Manchester s, um, Talented finest The Goon Squad. The first three are human, although The Revenant is a dead human, and the last is a mysterious and sentient machine. The whole thing is a helluva lot of fun and Howard doesn t use the whole comic book aspect to take the easy way out there are some real plot surprises and it s very easy to start taking these characters seriously I get the sense that if he weren t so tied up with other work this would ve made a respectable series of not so comic bookish short stories My only gripe is that in Kindle format a lot of layout aspects, like white space between scene shifts, didn t come through into the final published product Meh, no big deal The New Girl follows Nadiya Kysla, aka Puppet Girl, new kid on the block to the Manchester s Goon Squad all the Spec T teams have a bit of newspaper fame and each team has a nickname the London team is far better financed and has the much catchier nickname of Lionhearts, because even in prose comic books the South of England gets much better press than anywhere in the North Independently published by Howard, only the first year 12 issues plus one free Summer Special issue is available although Howard did promise to come back to the series if enough people buy it, at the ridiculously low price of.99 cents each If you enjoy Howard s other works, comic books, short stories, snark, weird and sometimes outdated British slang and or the City of Manchester then buy it Really You ll LIKE it Excelsior in joke ya gotta buy at least one story to get it My work here is done

Short but enjoyable intro to a new story plot line it slike an opening chapter, really Interesting characters, in a way that only Jonathan Howard can create them one being a corpse which makes the reader wonder if this character might have ever met up with Johannes Cabal at some point Ha We are given just enough to pique our curiosity, in this fun and quirky serialized story I look forward to other Goon Squad installments.

I really, really enjoyed this book As others have said, it s very British, but I actually love that It helps to create it s distinctive feel, and I never had trouble with any of the colloquialisms as it pertained to understanding the story I also loved Howard s voice, and it s already affecting how I view my own work going forward it gave me permission to be a lotrelaxed with my descriptions I immediately picked up the second issue and, as of this writing, I m on Issue 5 I m enjoyi I really, really enjoyed this book As others have said, it s very British, but I actually love that It helps to create it s distinctive feel, and I never had trouble with any of the colloquialisms as it pertained to understanding the story I also loved Howard s voice, and it s already affecting how I view my own work going forward it gave me permission to be a lotrelaxed with my descriptions I immediately picked up the second issue and, as of this writing, I m on Issue 5 I m enjoying the ride thus far and look forward tofrom the Goon Squad

A written graphic novel I wasn t certain what to expect, but this was a fun, quick very quick, 27 pages read that managed to evoke the same sense of childhood fun and pleasure as an actual graphic novel Looking forward to the entire series.

I guess it s not really fair to criticize a comic book novel for feeling like a cartoon, but I was hoping fordepth. It d probably work better for someone who sinto the genre I have no idea how this ended up on my e reader
