While the first book in this series nearly bored me to tears, this one, despite some flaws, was cute and sweet Both the hero and heroine were likable and both were quite refreshing to read about in a genre often plagued with stereotypical character types I liked Mavis in the first book much better than her cousin the heroine of said book , and this book confirmed my liking of her character evenMavis was a sweet, sensible and kickass heroine who stood up for the misunderstood man she lo While the first book in this series nearly bored me to tears, this one, despite some flaws, was cute and sweet Both the hero and heroine were likable and both were quite refreshing to read about in a genre often plagued with stereotypical character types I liked Mavis in the first book much better than her cousin the heroine of said book , and this book confirmed my liking of her character evenMavis was a sweet, sensible and kickass heroine who stood up for the misunderstood man she loved but without the annoying hotheadedness pridefulness that seems to plague most other heroines in similar stories Roland was really not your stereotypical hero at all he was stoic, didn t like to talk all that much, and even found it annoying when others did talk too much a rare introvert hero, yay , but he was honorable, dutiful, loyal and had a kindness that many did not see or comprehend immediately He was often unfairly judged based on the reputations of his horribly cruel and lecherous father and older brother view spoiler thankfully, both dead due to events in the first book hide spoiler His kindness generosity was to a fault when it came to his twin brother, Gerrard Despite all the pain and belittling he had constantly suffered from his brother and from so many others too since their childhood, so much that his self esteem was to be one of his biggest monsters in this story, Roland refused to turn his brother out or fully give up on him Which brings to point that the beef of the drama, and the few fights between Mavis and Roland, tied mostly with Gerrard, who was honestly a real entitled, ungrateful dickwad throughout this book view spoiler who even considers plotting to take away his brother s legally rightful title and rights, though he redeems himself at the end just in time for the next book which stars him hide spoiler Roland yielded too much to Gerrard, and it was infuriating But I liked that Roland didn t take Gerrard s insults of his wife lightly at all and got physical to defend her The brothers finally coming to terms with each other was rather touching, but seemed a bit rushed on Gerrard s end, for all the awfulness he brought on to Roland It would have madesense if some of that pompous, ungratefulness continued into Gerrard s part in the next book to really have his character grow, but I guess that would put off anyone especially me wanting to read the next book and can t have that happening, oops.Still giving 4 stars because Mavis and Roland were still too sweet cute together and ultimately made this story enjoyable

Decent historical romance I felt that if the book had been a bit longerstretched out, chapters shorter, minor character development, this could have been an excellent tale Sadly, there were too many sub plots that were distracting from the main story hence the reason that if the book was longer, the sub plotsfleshed out, then a decent book would have been upgraded to great.3 stars, 6.5 10, not Moore s best work but doesn t detract from her other works.

I liked it Twins, family issues, pent up lust, criminals, murder, un returned love, jealously the only thing that bothers me with these romance novels is the lack of communication, seeing something then running with your own conclusions and just over thinking it Just ask a frigging questions already..we re married but does she love me did that look in his eye mean he now has feelings for me blah blah blah
