had mixed feelings about this book There were parts I liked, parts I loved and some of it was meh.The story was sprinkled with fun scenes and dialogue that I really enjoyed Great teasing around how being a cowboy made Finn a chick magnet and when he put on his grey Stetson, he started walking and talking like a cowboy again Once Finn finally surrendered to their chemistry there was lots of steamy sex But the back story that he married his ex wife to avoid risking his heart by getting involved with the heroine Chelsea did not show him in a good light it was both cowardly and really not nice to have consciously chosen second best no wonder his marriage failed, and even though his first wife is portrayed as superficial and mercenary, it seems he was immature and even cruel in his choices five years before What a waste of energy. His sudden turnaround getting involved with Chelsea happened so quickly and completely I could understand why it happened the first time, based on their pent up lust, but once they had sex, he jumped in with both feet so to speak, and I was not sure I believed it based on his hesitancy and doubts from the earlier 2 books and the start of this one.I was disappointed again in creation of a predictable conflict moment In this story it was a business crisis that had him considering bailing, after things were going so well On the other hand, I was also surprised at how suddenly this was resolved It happened so quickly, I m not sure I completely tracked his mental processing or believed his aha moment. So formula is boy meets girl, boy fights attraction, girl fights attraction, uncontrollablefeelings of lust head to best sex ever, they admit they are in love and want to be together in a possible HEA, just when things are going well, MUST CREATE A CONFLICT to break them up, so they can separate to figure it out , and then come back together for their resolution HEA.Major spoiler alert next.A bit underwhelmed by big endingyes it was a nice twist the ex nerd character Lily put the funding over the top because she was wealthy from royalties from her successful video game, but the plot seemed to indicate that this group of characters would have let the project that they were emotionally invested in for 3 whole books fail, rather than take Jack Chance up on his offer to top up whatever they were short, to ensure they could meet their goal It just did not make sense to me and it dishonoured his heartfelt offer. My favourite parts of the book were the warm, funny, entertaining dialogue and scenes in many places where the Last Chance Ranch families kept popping up, and Jack teaching Finn to dance was hilarious Final Rating 3 Stars Third in the Thunder Mountain Brotherhood romance series intersecting with the Sons of Chance series and revolving around the three foster boys who became fast friends The couple focus is on Finn O Roarke and Chelsea Trask. This ARC was sent to me by NetGalley and Harlequin Blaze for an honest review. My TakeThis is a sweet, simple story with a believable conflict, and Thompson pulls you right in emotionally with Herb and Rosie s problem and Finn s unwanted desires.I do adore Thompson s Sons emotionally with Herb and Rosie s problem and Finn s unwanted desires.I do adore Thompson s Sons of Chance series, and this installment of the Thunder Mountain Brotherhood simply proves that she keeps on rolling out those cozy romances that make you feel so good The conflicts are real, and the supportive characters are people you d want to know. While Thompson does put a bit of a twist on the I can t be with you trope, it was an irritating one with Finn protesting too much Why Finn thinks it can only turn out one way is beyond me It does reinforce how sad his attitude makes Chelsea. As for that Alison, well, I agree with Chelsea She didn t deserve what she took from Finn.Jack and Josie stepped in and up, lol to refine Finn s and Chelsea s dancing Yep, Jack insisted on dancing with Finnlaughter while Josie is dancing with Chels That s not the only collaboration between Josie and Finn, either They do have beer in common, and I suspect Thompson will make use of it for further Thunder Mountain Brotherhood Sons of Chance conjunctions.Mmmm, who knew cowboy skills translated into undressing skills, lol.I do love that the Chances are business like, but in a fun way, and very supportive of each other It s a stark contrast with Finn s need to control every detail of his brewery.Oh, boy Thompson gives us all this feel good cheer with a few conflicts raising money for Rosie and Herb s ranch and Chelsea and Finn s non relationship Then she drops the big one My heart just broke, and I had to start reading faster to find out if when it was resolved I so wanted a happy ending The StoryAll work and no play makes Finn a dull cowboy Since his divorce, Finn O Roarke has put all of his time into his Seattle based microbrewery, unaware that back in Wyoming, his foster parents are on the verge of ruin Now Finn and his foster brothers are trying to save Thunder Mountain Ranch and only one woman can help them turn it all around.Marketing guru Chelsea Trask has had a thing for the gorgeous brewer for ages When they work together at Thunder Mountain Ranch, however, she starts to see Finn s cowboy side And it s irresistibly hot Best of all, the attraction that s been sizzling beneath the surface has erupted in some very sexy situations But is Chelsea falling for the real Finn or for the cowboy he used to be The CharactersFinn O Roarke is a microbrewer in Seattle O Roarke s Brewhouse Alison is his ex wife Brad is his brewery assistant Jeff is his most experienced bartender Roger is his not quite ready substitute.Chelsea Trask is a PR and marketing whiz Chance Ranch foreman Yvonne works for her Spirits and Spurs is Josie Chance s bar to which Finn shipped samples of his beer. The Cover and TitleThe cover shows off a half naked cowboy in a white hat atop a white horse, one elbow resting on the saddle horn, and leaning forward as he looks off into the distance. The title is the Kickstarter campaign and the ranch supporters as they re Rolling Like Thunder promoting the ranch s purpose for foster kids and the new riding program This was a fantastic return to Thunder Mountain Ranch Thompson takes readers on a chemistry filled, hope inducing ride Last Chance before hitting Thunder Mountain The way these two series tie together is fantastic Thompson had me crossing my fingers for the Thunder Mountain Ranch by the end of this one I was hoping for a miracle right alongside the characters Chelsea Finn s banter was so real fun You can really get up close and personal with them through it The simultaneously relaxed yet strained manner in which they interact speaks volumes Finn s inability to see reason what was right in front of him was difficult at times, but we got to see him come to grips with the ways he could balance work with life I enjoyed reacquainting myself with the other characters in the series Thompson doesn t go in depth with their development here, relying on past novels But don t worry if you haven t read the rest of the series, this can still be read as a standalone Same goes from the Chances that we encounter And I, for one, definitely need to experience a Jack Chance dance lesson This was another hot heartfelt novel from Thompson I love her look at ranch life at family, whether nuclear, extended, or bonded. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review I liked this book but not as much as the first two Don t get me wrong I loved Finn and Chelsea, but I thought their relationship was a bit rushed even know they have worked together and have known each other for 5 years You can see right away they have a mutual attraction to one another and they both have been fighting it for 5 years Chelsea met Finn and he went and decided not to get involved with her but ended up married to someone else Now he is divorced but he still turned her down when I liked this book but not as much as the first two Don t get me wrong I loved Finn and Chelsea, but I thought him out They have been in a comfortable snarky friendship per se Now they are helping raise money for the ranch he grew up in for other foster kids and they start to act on their attraction which quickly happens during a week and fall in love I didn t see any real conflict like I did with the previous books and their relationship once they were together seemed a bit too easy I was just hoping forI did like Chelsea as the heroine She is smart, funny, unique and has this snarky attitude, but she is very likable Finn is sexy, smart, and maybe a little to serious but when he gets together with Chelsea a whole new side of him starts to show and I liked him much better In this story and the other stories in the series they mention other foster kids by names so I m wondering if they will get their own books since they pop in from time to time on the ranch Overall Chelsea and Finns relationship was sweet and right to the point In order to really understand their relationship I believe books 1 2 should be read because even though they are about the other couples Chelsea and Finn are mentionedthen once I wanted to give this a 5 star like the others but I couldn t get into Finn I is his PR agent When the ranch where Finn spent his teen years as a foster child is in danger of going under, Chels helps develop a Kickstarter campaign for his foster parents and foster brothers to going under, Chels helps develop a Kickstarter campaign for his foster parents and foster brothers to raise money and establish Thunder Mountain Academy. They have known each other for five years and felt the chemistry and sexual tension between them for just as long There is a refreshing openness and honesty between these two characters that I love to read but rarely find in romance They admit their faults, especially Finn, accept that their week away together is all they will have despite wishing it could be , and tell each other about their sexual desire and how much they enjoy finally being together And when, inevitably, they begin not wanting things to end when they return to Seattle, they are open about that, too There are no long passages, page after page, of tortured inner dialogue No hidden secrets, no little white lies or big lies to hide their emotions The conflict comes from watching them move from five years of friendship and longing to an honest, mature relationship and really getting to know each other. It did feel like we got to know a lot toabout Finn than Chelsea He did the most growing as a character, and at times it seemed Chels might be a little too perfect Also, some of sex scenes bordered on silly when the dialogue dipped into attempts to be too cute, or the author was making obvious efforts to be graphic without using graphic language When it begins approaching purple prose territory, I d rather the author be forward and realistic Still, the sexual tension and scenes were mostly hot to read.Overall, I definitely recommend this book, especially for readers like me who enjoy when a couple does not spend most of the book fighting each other and their feelings Just like the other ones a really good, quick read It s nice to have the Chance Family thrown in for good measure too I also love the way the other characters are still in the story, helping out and show up It is truly like a Friend Zone Thanks for the series Ms Thompson. amazing series i be rereading it again.
